This watercolor is one of my favorite pieces. Its nearly five years old, I haven't tried a lot of water color since. It started off as a very faint sketch and painted over it. You can still see the pencil marks on the sail. Normally, I would make several sketches of something before painting, but for this piece, the final product fits well right on top of the draft.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the suggestion Tim, I thought about it too, but there is no perfect background, since I'll be posting some darker pieces as well. It would be nice if there was an easy way to "frame" each piece in a neutral color without having to do any extra work.
